My experience is that especially foreigners tend to have a certain picture of a country which is only partially right.
When you ask people what is typical of Austria or Switzerland most of them will answer cheese, chocolate or mountains.
If you ask them about Germany most people will immediately come up with "awesome cars and good beer" but I never got skiing as an answer.
When I was travelling New Zealand and Australia it was quite difficult for me to convince the people that skiing in Germany is a lot
