Kronplatz is situated at a perfect spot in the Alps. North of it are the Zillertal and Ötztal Alps, south of it is the rocky face of the Dolomites.
The Kronplatz mountain itself is not that spectacular as the scenery but the view of the surrounding mountains is just spectacular. At the same time the resort
offers skiing at its best for intermediate skiers. Most of the slopes are in the category "red" which is intermediate difficulty. These are really broad
and encourage the skier to never stop carving again. Thats probably is the major reason for most visitors to come to Kronplatz.
But there are a lot of easy
slopes as well which cater to the beginners. 51km out of 105km in total are marked as easy runs. Therefore it shouldn't be a problem for anyone to do the
first steps on skiers here. For more advanced skiers the best slopes are "Sylvester" and "Herrnegg" run which lead from the top of the mountain to the
base station at Reischach. But skiers or snowboarders who want to do some off piste runs can find a better place than Kronplatz. Due to its height from 900
to 2275 metres there are not that many spots where really nice freeriding is possible.
Not that many resorts invest such a huge amount of money for lift facilities. But I think that they have done too much. A lot of chair lifts
were replaced with gondolas. This might be really nice when it is cold and the weather is really bad. But it is quite annoying to get out of your snowboard or
bindings after every run. Nervertheless Kronplatz is one of my favourite ski areas when I want to have fun on well groomed slopes and do some partying
afterwards. Not far from the base station Bruneck/Reischach the city with 14.000 inhabitants offers a lot of nighlife.
In conclusion Kronplatz is one of the best ski resorts for average skiers who want to have well groomed slopes, cozy huts and the typical South Tyrolean flair!
