The winter sports region around the villages Samnaun and Ischgl has the reputation to be the apres ski centre in tyrol.
The ski area "Silvretta Arena" offers 13 cozy huts and mountain restaurants as well as numerous "Schirmbars" (bars covered
with a big umbrella). Basically in all these locations skier and snowboarder can party all day long. Even after lifts closure
winter sport enthusiasts can enjoy the night life in Samnaun and Ischgl.
Most people do not know Samnaun as party location but
the apres ski is at least as good as in Ischgl. A really good hint is the "Schmugglerhütte" hut which is situated at the run to
Samnaun village. With the total of 120km of slopes in all difficulties Ischgl is one of the biggest ski resorts of Austria. It
offers a lot more than apres ski and partying. More than half of the slopes are intermediate runs which makes the resort very
situable for advanced skiers. If you are a beginner it is best to take the chair lift "B2" at the Idalp base station. This lift
leads to numerous easy slopes. In contrast to this the difficult runs are situated at the "B4" tow lift. The lift B4 can be reached
by taking the chair lift "B3" from the base station Idalp.
Another advantage of Ischgl are the modern lift facilities, chair lifts (sometimes equipped with heated seats) which take skiers uphill
as quick as possible. But on weekends or public holidays I made the experience that the area at the Idalp base station is really crowded
and should be avoided.
Ischgl is definitely one of the best skiing locations of Austria and a must-go if you are after apres ski and partying. If you are not really
into this the ski resorts Serfaus or Silvretta Nova are not that far away and a lot calmer.
